Community information night - coaching, female soccer development and the Adelaide Jaguars philosophy
Date: Mon 23 August
Time: 6:30-8:30pm
Location: Club West Lakes
The Adelaide Jaguars invite you to our 2021 Community Information Night. It’s an evening for:
Parents who want to learn more about our club’s coaching principles, philosophies and processes.
People who may be interested in beginning their coaching journey.
Those who would like to learn more about football development, especially from a female specific lens.
The night will explore key topics such as:
Our club model - and the processes we put in place to ensure a steady, structured and linear progression from u7s through to seniors.
The phases of development - the key details, principles and philosophies related to coaching various age groups.
Session design - how we bring those ideas to life in a training session.
Measuring success - and unpacking the practical differences between coaching to win a league versus coaching to develop players.
Conditioning and physical literacy - ensuring that throughout the players journey they are given the tools to develop positive lifelong physical habits.
Expectations and support - outlining what is required of an Adelaide Jaguars coach, and the supports available to our coaches.
The coaching pathway - taking your coaching journey to the next level.
We will also work together to create some session plans, and implement them together with junior Adelaide Jaguars players.
About the evening:
Our club is growing rapidly. We have tripled in numbers over the last 24 months. We have more miniroos, juniors and senior teams than ever before. Our number one priority as a club is ensuring that the girls have access to good coaching in order to allow their enjoyment and development within the game to thrive. So as we enjoy this exciting moment of growth as a club, it is paramount that we continue to train, retain and support coaches. Our aim is to have 13-15 teams for the 2022 season, and for each team to have a head coach and at least one assistant coach. This means that we will need to increase the number of coaches within our Jaguars community, and this event is the first step towards ensuring that all 2022 players have access to the coaching support needed to thrive at the club.
This night will serve as an opportunity for anyone who has an interest in coaching to get an idea of what the experience of being a coach is like. There is absolutely no cost and no expectation of commitment. It is an entry point for absolutely anyone. It is for parents who are passionate about the game and are thinking of giving coaching a go (or who are thinking about putting their hand up to be an assistant coach), it is for senior players who are thinking about the next phase of their football journey, it is for people from outside our community who have an interest in potentially getting in to coaching, or even simply just parents who want to know more about what goes in to how we approach our coaching as a club.
Being a coach at the Adelaide Jaguars is an incredibly rewarding experience. There is no greater thrill than helping others enjoy the game and thrive as a team. Our club has a special culture and a special community, and as such we take great pride in ensuring that our coaches reflect and represent those values. We are proud that, as a female only club, 50% of our coaching group are female. We aim to be a club where that can serve as an entry point for female coaches, whilst we also value and appreciate the important role that male champions and coaches within the female game play.
We also know the importance of making sure everyone is on the same page, and understands our club’s process when it comes to developing young footballers. The more people that are aware of what we are doing, and how we are aiming to do it, the smoother the operation runs. This is an opportunity for us to continue to educate the community on the club’s vision for our female players.
As with all things with the Adelaide Jaguars, the session will be enjoyable, interactive and welcoming. People of all footballing experiences and knowledge levels are welcome to attend.
The night will be presented by current Adelaide Jaguars coaches, and led by club Technical Director Sean Sheehy.
