WHAT IS THE LEGACY LEAGUE?
This is an initiative as part of a plan to maximise the impact of the 2023 Women's World Cup coming to Adelaide!!
A core fundamental of the legacy plan is to ensure girls have a positive, enjoyable, affordable experience with football.
School knock out is great, but not every school can put together a team and the season often ends after one game. Saturday school comps are good too - but girls have to play with boys, and we know girls THRIVE in a girls only environment.
This is a way to make sure your girls have an amazing footballing experience.
What do the players need?
The girls can play in their school PE uniform. They don't need to purchase any equipment except for shin pads. We prefer they play in boots, but it's not mandatory.
What will the Thursdays look like?
Players will participate in skill development sessions with accredited female coaches from 3:45 - 4:00 before enjoying small sided, 4v4 matches. There will be three leagues, one for yr 1-2's, one for yr 3-4's, and one for yr 5-6's.
Why 4v4?
Small teams means that it's easier to get a team together. We recommend building squads of 5-7 players. If your school can't get a team together, let us know and we can partner you with another school!
What doES THE SCHOOL need to provide?
Nothing, except nominating a coordinator, and maybe some help with transport. The girls will be partnered with accredited female coaches for their matches and training sessions. Just get your girls organised and get the teams together!
What assistance can the legacy league provide?
We are happy to come in and run before-school or after-school girls only clinics at your school. We are also happy to run all-day girls soccer programs where we work with the girls across all year levels over the course of the day.
What's the cost?
Per player, it's a total cost of $100 (covered by the sports voucher) for the two terms. The cost helps us with facility and equipment costs. If there are girls at your school who can not afford that cost, we can be flexible. We want as much affordable participation as possible.All players participating will get a Legacy League shirt!
